My formal and informal training has been primarily in representational painting. From my early years visiting the studios and galleries of the painters in Gloucester and Rockport, the artist colonies just north of Boston, to my time at the University of Massachusetts and with my mentor Maurice Kennedy. Plein air landscape painting and direct painted, still life, figure and portrait painting was my focus for almost three decades. In the late nineties I began working more abstractly only to return to representational painting again with my move to Tasmania in 2018.
The images here are both early and contemporary, from my time painting in America and Australia.
